Parish Social Ministry at Assumption is dedicated to living out the Gospel call to serve others, especially those most in need.

Through outreach programs, volunteer efforts, and partnerships within the community, the ministry supports individuals and families facing challenges such as poverty, food insecurity, and isolation. Rooted in compassion and Catholic social teaching, Parish Social Ministry encourages parishioners to put their faith into action by promoting dignity, justice, and care for all people.

 How does it help, my brothers, when someone who has never done a single good act claims to have faith?  Will that faith bring salvation?  If one of the brothers or one of the sisters is in need of clothes and has not enough food to live on, and one of you says to them, ‘I wish you well; keep yourself warm and eat plenty’, without giving them these bare necessities of life, then what good is that?  In the same way faith, if good deeds do not go with it, is quite dead.  But someone may say:  So you have faith and I have good deeds?  Show me this faith of yours without deeds then!  It is by my deeds that I will show you my faith (James 2:14-18).

El Ministerio Social Parroquial de Assumption se dedica a vivir el llamado del Evangelio a servir a los demás, especialmente a los más necesitados.

A través de programas de asistencia, labores de voluntariado y colaboraciones dentro de la comunidad, el ministerio apoya a personas y familias que enfrentan desafíos como la pobreza, la inseguridad alimentaria y el aislamiento. Fundamentado en la compasión y en la doctrina social católica, el Ministerio Social Parroquial anima a los feligreses a poner su fe en acción promoviendo la dignidad, la justicia y el cuidado de todas las personas.

¿De qué sirve, hermanos míos, que alguien diga tener fe si no ha realizado ninguna buena obra? ¿Acaso esa fe podrá salvarlo? Si un hermano o una hermana carecen de ropa y no tienen suficiente alimento para vivir, y uno de ustedes les dice: «Que les vaya bien; abríguense y coman bien», pero no les da lo necesario para subsistir, ¿de qué sirve eso? De la misma manera, la fe, si no va acompañada de buenas obras, está completamente muerta. Pero alguien podría decir: «¿Así que tú tienes fe y yo tengo buenas obras?». ¡Pues muéstrame esa fe tuya sin obras! Yo, en cambio, te mostraré mi fe mediante mis obras (Santiago 2, 14-18).
